Somatic Self Care Retreat: embodied practices to relax and renew.
Join me for this special weekend for women designed to de-stress, restore vitality and reconnect to inner peace.

This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in principles and effective techniques that can create lasting positive change; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. With a maximum of 10 participants, you’ll receive detailed instruction, attention and care to deepen your understanding of the practices and help you make the most of this precious time. Together we'll craft a framework for ongoing personal practice so you can continue to feel good and thrive.

Enjoy the freedom to slow down, grow, learn about yourself, nourish your body, savour beautiful nature, make friends and feel more spacious.
who's this for?
In a fast paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the slipstream of information overload, working hard, being busy and putting everyone else's needs before our own. We lose touch with ourselves, and what matters most. This can lead to burnout, overwhelm, exhaustion, anxiety, low mood, and a lack of clarity about the direction we are heading in. Whilst this retreat is open to women of all ages, if you're going through perimenopause the effects of stress can be amplified, so learning effective strategies for nervous system regulation are crucial.

Life takes over, but it doesn’t have to be this way. I'll share best practices for helping you to reduce stress and live more fully and authentically, reclaiming vibrancy, peace and joy. These are enjoyable techniques that really work to help you feel like YOU again.
a flavour of the retreat experience...
gentle movement
Cultivate a positive relationship with your embodiment and learn yoga postures to suit your particular needs. Ease physical tension, enjoy moving your body & understand what your body craves to feel good.
guided relaxation
Yoga Nidra is an ancient relaxation technique
for accessing a meditative state of being, which can enable deep healing and transformation and awaken creative insight.
soundbath healing
Talented and experienced musician Jez Smith will lead this unique and special session. Jez will weave together a rich tapestry of therapeutic sounds using gongs, singing bowls and gentle percussion to ease you into a balanced state.
restorative yoga
Using various supported postures we create profound relaxation in body and mind, with proven health benefits: improved sleep, sharpened cognition, hormonal regulation, reduced inflammation, boosted immunity.
mindfulness meditation
Just as we exercise our bodies, we can train our hearts and minds to experience more well-being. With mindfulness and compassion we gain clarity about how to skilfully navigate life's challenges with greater ease.
walking in the Surrey Hills
Join Louise for an optional guided walk through the beautiful surrounding countryside, or explore on your own. Fintry's extensive grounds are lovingly cultivated for enjoyable wandering or quiet contemplation.
Themes we'll explore:
-
Energy management, what helps and what hinders.
-
Working skilfully with emotions: navigating life’s ups and downs with greater ease.
-
Gain greater clarity on unhelpful patterns of thinking.
-
How self-compassion practices enhance joy.
-
Applying principles learned into daily life, without feeling overwhelmed.

About Louise
Louise has been studying and practising meditation and yoga since the early nineties, and has been teaching since 2011, guiding hundreds of students in class, workshops and on retreat.
Louise has focused most of her teaching career on supporting women through various life stages like pregnancy, motherhood and menopause. She loves to dispel myths and make the teachings accessible, relatable and enjoyable. Firmly believing in the power of community, her classes are inclusive and welcoming. She brings heart and passion to her teaching, inspiring students to find their own reasons for practice.

Since going through menopause Louise has delved deeply into effective mind-body solutions for creating more ease during the second half of life. Her training has included Embodied Yoga Principles and coaching, advanced Restorative Yoga with Judith Lasater, experiential anatomy with Judith Lasater and Mary Richards, and a 2 year mindfulness meditation training with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. She also has a good understanding of lifestyle interventions like appropriate strength training and good nutrition.

Louise is a keen hiker and recently completed a 106km continuous trek. She loves to guide others on walks, helping them have fun and improve technique, but doesn't expect them to go further than they want! She lives in Surrey and is married with two sons and two step sons, loves good food, good company and most things creative.
